Bycocket (pointy hunter’s hat) 14-15th century, worn by all genders
Bycockets are seen in artwork between the 14th and 16th centuries. During the 14th and 15th centuries, they were fashionable sport hats, worn outdoors by both men and women. During the 16th century, they are seen worn by rural workers wearing men’s clothing.
If you wear female clothing, style yours with braids or a veil and a vimple, or everything at once for the best fashion statement! For male clothing, earlier paintings show a cap/linen coif underneath, while later paintings show it worn directly on your head.
To measure your size, measure the circumference of your head around the forehead, above the ears, and to the back of your head. If you want to wear braids/veils under, remember to measure for this.
Xsmall: 54-55 cm
Small: 56-57 cm
Medium: 58-59 cm
Large: 60-61 cm
Xlarge: 62-64 cm
Pick a colour, but email me before you order, if you want to make sure your colour is available within a narrow timeframe, for example, if you need the hat before a deadline. I make the hats on order, but also have a small inventory for quick deliveries.
Please note that returns are only allowed within 14 days of delivery and if the hat is unused. Smoke, hairspray, and animal hairs etc., are not allowed if you want a full refund. You can, of course, try the hat on inside.
More info and research on the hat, visit: https://handcraftedhistory.blog/historical-hats-in-wool-straw/
Delivery time: 2-3 weeks, depending on production and shipping time.
